  • Teacher preparation programs at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas aim to provide candidates opportunities to work with broadly diverse student populations, including students with disabilities and children from various racial/ethnic, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Assistant Professor Jori Beck notes the surrounding community is well suited to this goal, as it serves schools and students across a wide spectrum, including numerous Title 1 schools. Assistant Professor Norma Marrun says faculty are also investigating why more students from diverse backgrounds are not interested in becoming teachers and how to change their minds.
