The Impact of the Coteaching Residency Model

The coteaching model employed in SUNY Oswego teacher residencies benefits residents, mentors, and students alike. Especially in classes of 25-30 students, says Grant Middle School teacher Angela Alessandro, “having that extra hand helps.” Teacher Tiffany Duquette especially values the ability to differentiate more for individual students and engage in small-group instruction. A student adds, “We feel comfortable talking to that student teacher because we know them for a long time.”
